Roseanne Park — known by her Korean name Park Chae-young — was born on February 11, 1997, in Auckland, New Zealand, and holds dual New Zealand and South Korean citizenship. She was raised in Melbourne, Australia, attending Kew East Primary School and Canterbury Girls' Secondary College, before signing with YG Entertainment following a successful audition in 2012.

She released her debut solo single album R in March 2021, which sold 448,089 copies in its first week — a record for a Korean female soloist — led by the single "On the Ground," which debuted at number one on the Billboard Global 200. In October 2024 she released "APT." with Bruno Mars, which became one of 2025's best-selling global singles, and in December 2024 released her debut solo studio album Rosie, which debuted at number three on the Billboard 200.
